Pocket Thief 1/1
For @egyptianghosts I hope you like it
Jason looked at all the items with a gaping mouth—not that anyone would be able to tell with his helmet on—and then he stared at the scrawny fifteen-year-old who had presented the Red Hood with all the items. Items stolen from the Waynes.
Bruce’s wallet lay there, money still inside it. Dick’s watch that he had gone crazy looking for, Tim’s necklace and Damian’s pocket knife. How in the hell had this kid been able to pickpocket the greatest detectives/martial artists in the world?
“Where did you get all this, kid? How did you get all this?”
The kid brought his chin up in challenge, “You said any kid in Crime Alley who pickpockets the entire Wayne family would get all necessities paid for them by you until they turned 18. Was that true or were you blowing it out of your ass?”
“No, it’s true. It’s just that I never thought a kid would take it seriously, let alone do it.”
“I’m not like most kids,” he said.
Jason laughed. Most people become unnerved at the distorted laughter from his helmet, but the wet cat of a kid didn’t even flinch.
Jason laughed harder.
It had started as a joke. Well, mostly. The kids of Crime Alley are proud and don’t like ‘handouts,’ so Jason had the brilliant idea of giving the kids a ‘job’: pickpocket the Waynes. Most kids who heard the challenge thought it was a joke and would do other small ‘jobs’ Red Hood would give them so that he could pay them.
Most kids who believed it was real thought it wasn't even worth trying.
Most kids who tried were caught immediately. Subsequently, they would receive a meal paid for by the Wayne they had chosen to steal from, and suddenly find some doors opened for them because Jason knew his family and knew they had a soft spot for kids, even the Demon Brat.
What Jason hadn’t expected was for a kid to succeed.
“What’s your name, kid?”
“Da—I mean, Sticky.”
Jason ignored the kid’s fumble.
“Why are you called that?”
“Cuz anything that I want sticks to my fingers,” he said while showing Jason his gun. What the hell? Jason looked at the strap on the side of his leg and saw it was empty. He hadn’t even seen the kid move. No wonder he had been able to steal from his family.
“That’s a great skill you have there, kid.”
A little too good. He had to be a Meta.
“Thanks. Will you pay for my necessities, or will I just have to go back to stealing for a living?”
“I’m a man of my word, kid. You did the job successfully; I’ll pay for your things until you turn eighteen.”
Sticky’s shoulders relaxed.
“Great! That’s great. Uh, how will this work exactly?”
“Huh, oh, aw, give me a sec, will you?”
Sticky furrowed his brow. Well, Jason was taking a picture of the items and sending them to his family’s group chat.
The response was immediate.
Big Bird: No way, no way in hell anyone was able
to pull one over one of us, let alone all of us.
can you hack into the security cams here?
All Seeing: Already did, here’s a pic.
Demon Brat: No way that scrawny teenager was able
to steal from us.
Timmers: I’m with the brat here. No way this was possible.
BatBastard: Oracle, can you find out more about this boy?
Me: Seriously, can’t have anything without you freaking out.
“Um, hello? Mr. Hood? Are you still with me?”
Jason put his phone on silent and paid attention to Sticky again.
“Yeah, sorry, kid, important business texts. Anyway, yes, I’ll set you up. After all, a deal is a deal. Now, I won’t be able to get you an apartment out of Crime Alley, but I can set you up in one close to here. I’ll also pay for school supplies, clothes, food, and give you a monthly stipend.”
“Oh, uh, I’m not going to school. I only need a place to stay and food. I don’t even need the money.”
“Nonsense, kid. You got the job done, and I said I would cover all necessities until you’re eighteen.” Jason hit the kid on his back. Sticky didn’t even stumble.
“Okay, Sticky, let’s go get you set up.”
Sticky stared at Jason with big, blue eyes and nodded.
“Wait here, I’ve got to get my bike.”
Jason was glad he had left his bike far away so he could call Babs.
“Oracle, anything on the kid yet?”
“I’m running face recognition software right now, but so far, nothing.”
“Hey, you think you can return our stuff?” Tim asked.
“Sorry, those are my trophies now.”
“Hood, I swear, if you don’t return my knife, I will send you to your grave again. That was a gift from Richard.”
“No names on the field,” came Bruce’s gruff voice. Jason could hear the clacking of a keyboard in the background. They were most likely in the Batcave.
Oracle’s distorted voice sighed.
“I’ll keep checking. For the time being, try to get the kid a good meal and a place to live. He looks like a wet cat.”
“Okay. I’ll sign off now. Hood out.”
Jason drove up to the kid and gave him a helmet.
“Welcome to your new life, kid.”
Sticky accepted the helmet, not knowing how much his life would change.
Pickpocket for Hire
Dpxdc Prompt #61
It started off as a joke.
No really, it was something that Jason felt the Bats would laugh about, while also helping out some street kids along the way.
He put out a job for the kids of Crime Alley, anyone who could pickpocket the entire Wayne family would get all necessities paid for them by Red Hood until they turned 18.
Most kids that saw the challenge would think it was a joke.
Most kids that believed it was real would think it wasn't even worth trying.
Most kids that tried would be caught immediately, and subsequently get a meal paid for by their Wayne of choice and suddenly have some doors opened for them, because Jason knew his family and knew they had a soft spot for kids.
Except the one thing he didn't account for was Danny Fenton, who most certainly was not most kids.

Yandere Batfam x Neglected Reader x Yandere Ouran Academy
TW: Neglect
You weren’t wanted by either of your parents. That had been the cold hard truth that you had known since you were nine years old.
Your mother was a member of a wealthy family. While she wasn’t the heiress, that title belonging to her older sister, she still had a lot of money at her disposal, and took long trips to different places.
That was how she met Bruce, and she had a one night stand with him.
She didn’t realize she was pregnant until it was too late for a termination, and her parents threatened to cut her off if she gave up their grandchild. So she reluctantly kept you.
You were mostly raised by a revolving door of nursemaids and babysitters until you were five, and your mother deemed you old enough to be alone. You saw your mother about three times a year, during which she would play a doting mother in public before verbally tearing you down in private.
You were five when you understood you were a burden to her. You were eight when you stopped desperately searching for her love.
You were nine when she died in an accident, and your biological father had to take you. (Your grandparents were too old to take care of you, and your aunt was rarely seen outside of a board room, and was unwilling to take you.)
You had a few days of hope for a family, since Bruce Wayne was known for being an amazing father to his children.
That belief was shattered after you moved in and you were basically shunned by everyone. Bruce was cold and rushed around you. Tim was cold and distant. Dick acted nice, but he barely gave you a minute of notice. Even Alfred was constantly brushing you off, though he had a decent excuse.
The final hope was shattered when, three weeks after you moved in, your birthday passed unacknowledged and unnoticed. The only sign of it was the text from your grandparents and the package you received from them two days later, filled with nice dresses for you.
You grew up quietly, keeping to yourself. You had weekly calls with your grandparents, but didn’t mention the family.
The breaking point was when you were 13, and Damian arrived. You thought now, finally, you would have someone like you. That belief lasted six hours, until you were almost stabbed by the menace.
It was one of the first times the family spoke to you, and it was to tell you not to overreact. You barely held back the rebuke and bitter laughter.
The worst part about Damian’s arrival? The fact they loved him. Even though he kept acting out and threatening people and generally being a prick, Bruce made time for him and brought him to meals. Dick showered him in affection. Even Alfred was softer with him. It wasn’t fair. You were a perfect kid and they didn’t care about you, but in comes a kid with the same story as you but with a worse attitude, and he is loved unconditionally?!?
It wasn’t fair.
After the fifth time Damian almost killed you without reprimand, you contacted your grandparents and asked about returning to the country. They eagerly told you about a high school in Japan that wasn’t far from one of their houses, filled with people of your status and known for giving its graduates a great advantage in later years.
Two days later, you approached Bruce with the papers to okay your move for the school year and signing custody over to your grandparents temporarily while you were in Japan. You had a whole speech prepared in your mind defending the choice, but he signed without even bothering to ask any questions. (You didn’t cry, even as you felt a lump in your throat. Despite everything, you thought he would at least care enough to ask questions.)
You boarded a plane a month later, reading your new textbooks as you flew. You took the sparkling champagne (non alcoholic) from the flight attendant and raised your glass in the direction of Japan, your new future.
“To Ouran Academy and my future there.” You murmur softly before downing some of your drink.
Edit: I hope you all like this! I’ve been working on it for a while, and hopefully this isn’t too bad. My finals are next week, so wish me luck!

Really hope Damian accidentally becomes the favorite.
He tries to attack Danny, but Danny's viewing it as Ghost Play. He forgets that he looks blind and like he's actually dying. And all test results point to him being on death's door. But Danny gets so happy when Damian 'plays' with him that everyone is seriously questioning wtf is going on. Where was this kid raised if he views being attacked as playing?
In due part because of his exposure to the Lazarus Pits, Damian fighting Danny gives Danny a bit of ectoplasm. Which makes Danny seem more healthy. But it only gets noticed if Damian is gone for, like, a week. And Danny starts looking sick again, with the declining vitals to match.
On that note, if Danny gets exposed to Lazarus Water, through Damian, imagine if he instinctively is able to find it in large quantities? Like a dowsing rod. He finds the one that's deep in the caves. And instinctively puts a hand in. When the Bats find him, Danny looks mostly healthy again. But has green glowing eyes. He also immediately goes to fight Damian. Kicks the ass of everyone trying to stop him. Only to immediately calm down and back away if he knocks Damian's sword away, letting the other boy get his weapon. Which shows that he's in a playing mode rather than a killing mode. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief upon realizing that. Only for Danny to continue to need to use the pit, cause otherwise his vitals drop and he goes 'blind' again.
It'd be hilarious if the reason Danny seemed especially worried about being around Robin was because this was a Demon Twins AU. DNA test being done last, cause they're all worried about this kid's health, revealing a long lost brother and son. But they think Danny doesn't know. Damian only has very vague memories of another child before he was 6. Which means that Danny's been out of the LOA for a decade.
Given what Danny said about his 'mom' teaching him how to fight, either he has been visited by Talia (which is highly unlikely) or his adoptive mother may be a LOA agent/ally?
Bruce calls Talia to chew her out for not telling him about another child, only for her to get surprised that Danny is alive. Turns out, Danny was kidnapped and had his death faked or something. Paired with the multiple scars and fear of medical settings, it points to Danny having been kidnapped specifically to be experimented on. The fact he was taught how to fight implies that he was being turned into a soldier or sleeper agent.
Or go on a completely different route? Have it that Danny was given up at birth so at least one of her children could be normal and happy. But the scars made from others, plus his current condition, sends her into a hunting spree to find those who did this. Of course, she's stoic while everyone is watching her and pretends like the situation means nothing. She chose Damian to be the heir, no need for a spare after all. He was born weaker with a poor heart. He wasn't League material. Soon as the call is cut, she's ready to hunt down whoever did this.
But it would mean that Damian is so confused on what to do. Might accidentally call himself the superior twin. Which he means he has to care for Danny. But Danny takes it as an insult.
( Edit, Sorry I had an influx of questions and I thought it was one of those other ones. )
I did not think about the demon twins escapades for the Sorta Maybe Blind. You have a lot of good ideas! But I feel like that trope has been used a lot and I kind of want to make some shenanigans with just a random blind kid they found in an abandoned warehouse. Of course they're going to investigate but it's not going to help much. 🤫

chiropterology — tied up.
Tumblr media
drabble synopsis ; alfred, the only person in the manor who knows how to tie a tie, goes on vacation. warnings ; none!
series masterlist.
Tumblr media
“Car comes in half an hour,” said Bruce. “More than enough time to get everyone ready and out the door.”
“You grossly underestimate how long it takes Steph to do her skincare routine,” you said, chuckling at Bruce’s concerned glance up the stairs, where Steph’s room was. “Don’t worry—I forced her out of bed early so she should be ready to go in ten or so minutes.”
“Thank you. And Alfred said we wouldn’t be able to manage while he’s away! Pah! Shows what he knows.” Bruce patted your shoulders from behind, looking all too satisfied with himself before he began admiring your reflection in the vanity mirror. “You look amazing, by the way.”
You smiled at him. “It’s not every day I get to go to a wedding party! I love watching the people I love fall in love. I can’t wait for the kids to start getting married… Dick certainly isn’t too young for it now…”
The thought made Bruce blanch. “That’s terrifying. Dick was a little boy in his Robin uniform just yesterday…”
“Don’t start reminiscing too hard, old man,” you teased, scrunching your nose at his reflection. “You’ll get nostalgia-wrinkles.”
Bruce prodded at his face, leaning closer to the mirror. “Is that a thing?”
As you started styling your hair into something decently presentable, you heard Damian’s voice echo behind you. “Father? Can you help us?”
You turned to see Damian and Duke both awkwardly standing by the doorway, loose ties in hand.
“We can’t remember how to do it without Alfred,” winced Duke.
Bruce shot up to his feet, a determined edge to his voice. “Yes. Yes, of course, I can help you!” Just from his tone, you could tell he was overcompensating. In all your years married to Bruce, you couldn’t recall a single time he tied his own tie.
Bruce kneeled in front of Damian, looping the fabric about his neck. “Okay, I think this bit goes—under… then over and through… and there!”
The result was a lopsided, uneven bow. Bruce blinked at his handiwork in confusion.
Damian looked at his reflection, unimpressed. He tugged at the knot, which was far too tight for his comfort. “I don’t think it should look like that.”
“Hm. I must’ve sworn that was how Alfred did mine… let me try it on myself.” Bruce fetched a tie from the closet and tried twisting the knot himself. It, miraculously, managed to look even worse than the wrangled mess he left on Damian.
Duke glanced at his watch. “Maybe it’s time to call Alfred?”
Bruce shook his head vehemently. “No! There’s no need. He deserves some proper rest on his vacation.”
All three boys turned to you expectantly. You froze with the brush mid-way through your hair. You may have a doctoral degree and countless scientific accreditations to your name, but tying ties was simply out of your expertise—though you wouldn’t be caught dead admitting that to your kids. You had an all-knowing reputation to keep up, after all.
“You know what?” You abandoned your brush on the table and stood up. “How much time do we have?”
“Er… twenty minutes,” said Duke.
“Great! I think I can get one of my little cake robots recalibrated to tie ties in fifteen-or-so minutes. Shouldn’t take too long.”
Damian frowned, watching you head to the door, intent on getting down to your lab. “Would it not be easier if you just tied it for me?” You blinked down at the boy, who then heaved a massive sigh. “Please?”
“Hah! I’m glad you remembered your manners, but no.” You pinched his cheek fondly and then swept out of the room, ignoring Bruce’s complaints that once you went into the lab, it was very hard to get you out.
Duke tried to tie the knot again, but ended up nearly strangling himself. “What now?” he said, sounding completely defeated.
With your abrupt absence, Bruce was then forced to call the one person he really didn’t enjoy calling.
Tumblr media
“An alert from Gotham?” said Clark from the Watchtower, immediately pressing the answer button. It wasn’t often that Bruce called, so this must’ve been serious. “Batman? Are you okay—what’s going on?”
“Superman. Perfect. How do you tie a tie?”
There was some rustling commotion and the sound of distress on the call.
“Wh—what’s going on? Is someone hurt?” Clark’s brows furrowed.
In actuality, it was Damian smacking Duke’s fussing hands from trying to tighten the boy’s tie.
“I don’t have much time,” Bruce gruffed. “Do you know how to or not?”
Clark tilted his head much akin to a lost puppy. “Doesn’t Alfred know?”
“Alfred isn’t here!”
“Ooh, okay. Well, when I do it, I have the long bit go around and then under and through the loop. Easy.”
Bruce, carefully following Clark’s instructions, still managed to get it sticking out in two different directions, which he was mostly sure ties weren’t supposed to do. “It’s inside out. Don’t you do this every day for work?”
“Don’t take that tone with me,” Clark sassed. “We’ll figure this out, just listen to my instructions!”
Five minutes later, Barry and Hal had both come in, each trying to give Bruce their own long-winded and, frankly, wrong advice. Bruce half-suspected that Barry was lying on purpose to mess with him. Both Damian and Duke had given up, taking to lying on your bed and staring at the ceiling.
“The car is going to be here any minute,” Bruce said, brows knitting together. Forget the nostalgia-wrinkles, he was going to age a decade in the next ten minutes with the amount of pressure he was under.
“I know we can get this! Just give us one more shot—Hal, open up the diagram again!” Clark exclaimed, equally distressed.
Two and a half minutes later, Diana strode into the room, watching the men bicker with an amused frown. “I don’t understand. Why don’t you just not wear the ties? I mean, what are they going to do? Kick the richest man in Gotham out of the party?”
There was a long silence. Bruce cleared his throat, clearly embarrassed. “Right. Well, good job, everyone. Batman out.”
Tumblr media
Once in the car (ten minutes late), you glanced at the boys, noting that they all changed into crisp dress shirts that looked much better without ties than with them. “Don’t you all look smart! What happened to the ties?”
Bruce crossed his arms, grumbling. “There was a change of plan.”
Damian looked to you curiously. “Did you get the tie machine calibrated?”
It was now your turn to grumble. “It kept saying it wasn’t sure how to tie a cake. Turns out my cake robots aren’t as adaptable as I thought.”
Duke stifled a laugh, and Damian looked back and forth between his parents in disappointment. “I hope Alfred never has a vacation ever again.”
“Damian!”

Umm…but isn’t it fanon that Jason takes cares of the working girls and kids @hbatfam98 ?Yeah, we love for it to be canon but since he did beat up Tim, who was a kid at the time, hurt Dick, took over the drug trade, worked with Black Mask who is so bad (Isn’t he one of the worst of the Rogues? Like the Joker is the worst but Black Mask is up there. At least for me.) just to get the Joker out to make Bruce choose and then end up with the scar from Bruce’s throw he thought Jason would dodge (unless I’m not remembering correctly), and also had bombs throughout the city and maybe even Bludhaven (or was that not him?), yeah, Jason is insane.
Damian is a bit Insane (his diss with Tim but Tim didn’t help at all with that), Ra’s is insane for sure, Talia is probably insane, anyone who went in the Pits is insane…except Bruce maybe 🤔 but even he has problems (the way he treats his kids and more).
I love Jason but that boy needs to get help. And this is coming from someone who doesn’t like therapy since it doesn’t work for everyone.
Hell, they all do but they aren’t therapy people.
It’s like DC made Jason worse and not better when they redid the whole universe, again. The whole family.
Actually probably all of DC is worse now.
I refuse to accept that Bruce being mad at Jason for killing is canon. It makes no sense.
Batman can't kill. Sure partially because he never wants anyone to lose family like he did even if that family is criminal. But that doesn't apply to people like the Joker. Who's going to miss Joker? The people who he mentally broke? No, the reason batman doesn't kill people like the joker - truly purely vile and evil human beings is because than vengeance will swallow him and he knows it. He knows that if he crosses that line, he may not return. He'll want to kill every criminal who hurts someone. So, for the safety of Gotham, so that he doesn't become an overlord, he doesn't kill.
But that doesn't mean no one else can. So as far as I am concerned the canon version is:
Batman:*concerned that his son is killing and might lose himself and default to killing instead of trying to save* Don't kill the joker
Red hood:*kills Joker*
Batman:...
Red hood:...*doesn't just go around killing redeemable characters. Employs low level criminals and treats them fairly. Takes care of children in crime Alley.*
Batman:...ok. Alfred is making lasagna, wanna come home for dinner son?

"I don't understand why Bruce isn't okay with Jason killing people. At least the Joker."
Tell me you are USAmerican without telling me moment, because you cannot understand why criminals have rights and why they are important, and killing criminals go against these rights. To be truly equal as human, you cannot see another human as inferior and chose they must die.
And Bruce has always been against his kids killing. He taught his kids that they were not executioners, they were not gods but humans, and humans cannot chose who can live and who can die. And like, the Joker is not the worst criminal Batman has faced, or the one who has killed the most. And what Jason wanted was a proof that Bruce loved him and he was not stable enough that being able to kill the Joker would have been enough, he would still not have been satisfied. Because it doesn't fix shit.
I'm tired, they have been so many explanations in the comics as to why Batman was against killing, which together make it a lot of reasons. And also, I'm tired of y'all explaining why it is okay to execute a criminal in the streets for your blorbo, when I have the fascists in my country trying to bring back the death penalty and defending cops killing people in the streets by painting them as dangerous criminals. And nobody is going to put on trial your blorbo of he goes too far (again, Jason has killed small criminals in the comics. Of course, the batfam has an issue with that)
I loved Batman as a kid because he was goth and he didn't killed. I never thought the fandom would be defending killing criminals this much and miss the point this bad. At least in the Trigun fandom, people respects Vash being against taking a life.

Prompt: Christmas Con
Idea: Jason & arrowfam fic in a no cape AU (no no, not the horse movie one. A different fic.)
It's a Christmas fic.
Jason is a realistic "troubled kid" (not a mass murderer -may I insist, this is a civilian AU and no action story. In-world superhero logic does not apply here.) who was adopted as a preteen by Bruce as a preteen. As a teen, he struggled with his mental health, endangering himself with passive suicidality and even running away to find his biological mother -struggles which led Bruce to enroll him in what he thought was a therapy centre, making Jason yet another victim of the troubled teen industry. As an adult, Jason's relationship with the batfam is fraught, as the family doesn't understand Jason's resentment and has been fed over and over the narrative that he's simply a bad kid who refuses to do what's necessary to get better until they -and Jason- eventually started to believe him. On a meta level we have a Jason relatively close to Rebirth here in that he's rather depressed with a very negative opinion of himself, has lost his fire in a way that makes it feel like he's almost unrecognisable to when he first came back (from "therapy") and was so angry on behalf of himself, and that most importantly, he's internalized all the classist bullshit dc has been feeding up about Jason. The main theme of the story is the intersection between classism and psychophobia. Oh and Jason has BPD, because I'm predictable.
Meanwhile Roy is struggling to rebuild his life in the aftermath of his divorce with Jade. Their relationship is complicated; he loved her, and will still always love her in a way, and so will she, and they both love each other so much, but their relationship is so difficult, so much stuff happened due to problems in their work life colliding and many other issues, including issues with Jade's mental health, Jade wishes she could take care of Lian but she's self-aware enough to know she needs to work on stuff and wouldn't be able to give her what she needs, but she still visits a lot and tries her best, but they're also arguing all the time, and Roy is struggling to find balance between work and single-fatherhood, and the stress is giving him cravings and making sobriety more difficult. But from his family's perspective, Jade is just a cold-hearted woman who abandoned Lian and broke Roy's heart, and Roy has had enough of Ollie shit-talking his loved one at every family dinner.
(To clarify, the idea isn't to portray Bruce and Ollie as terrible, but rather misguided parents who thought they were acting in their kid's interest and had maybe an ego problem of assuming they're the ones who know best and Roy and Jason just don't know what's good for them; but the difference highlighted by the parallel, across the story, has to be Ollie's ability to learn and accept that he was wrong, vs Bruce's tendency to double-down on a more comfortable, yet ultimately harmful, point of view.)
So Roy has had enough! And as the next family dinner, he has an idea, one meant to show Ollie just how "spoiled" he's acting when complaining about Jade...
Rose Wilson, survivor of the troubled teen industry and proud self-appointed most annoying roommate, is about to spend Christmas with her newfound brother... But Eddie is invited to a giant christmas party this year, and neither of them is very comfortable leaving their other roommate alone for Christmas. So when Rose's friend approaches her about an issue her brother's having, Rose knows just the way to help her former foster family while helping Jason put his theatre skills to use and get him a friend and a good distraction in this difficult time.
The plan is simple: hire Jason to act as Roy's terrible, deadbeat boyfriend for Christmas to teach Ollie a lesson about talking shit about Roy's ex-wife in front of him and Lian at family dinner.
Jason thinks he's got this one, easy peasy! A frankly comical job that pays great on Christmas day, and all he has to do is behave as an annoying parent's worst nightmare of a boyfriend? He doesn't even have to dust off his acting skills- an unstable, impulsive, asshole street rat like Jason already fits the bill perfectly. A day of food and money, and all he's gotta do is have fun and be himself.
A hiccough, though: the plan is simply not working. Of course, there's Oliver's suspicion and distrust about Roy's taste in partners, Roy's kid who seems convinced he's trying to replace her mom and steal her dad, and this damned chilli that tastes like a non-verbal shovel talk... But be it his defensive demeanor, the cigarette smell, the fact that he dropped out of highschool, or his thick, "vulgar and ill-mannered" Crime Alley drawl, nothing seems to phase this odd, complicated family- and the more Jason learns to know them, the less he wants them to dislike him...
Aka the one where Roy's con to get his family to leave Jade alone accidentally backfires into Jason getting a support system. Can be platonic or romantic! And remember, fuck the troubled teen industry.

so I'm back with more sad (?) sht
....
"I thought you were off the streets today?"
The voice modified by the helmet reaches Tim, he doesn't turn to acknowledge Jason, just waits for him to approach, Jason comes to the edge of the roof and looks at what Tim is observing hidden.
A few rooftops away, Batman and Robin fight a fair amount of thugs, Bruce and Damian alone, they are good, of course they are, familiar fighting styles and Tim swears he saw Bruce smiling at Damian's skills at some point.
"What? Planning to pull a Red Hood on the kid? No offense Red, but we both know the problem is the Bat, never the Bird."
Tim frowned and looked at Jason in confusion.
"What? No. I mean, sure it sucks to be replaced by a kid after having been through so much shit in that position, but no, God, I can't pull a Hood on the kid, that would be stupid… No offense."
Jason knew very well that he meant to offend.
"So? What are you doing here? Reviving the old habit of stalking?"
"No, I just needed to make sure you two were well adjusted to each other, I'm pleased with what I've seen so far." Tim stepped away from the edge of the roof "Finally free."
"Of what?"
"Of the weight." Tim answered easily, he looked at Jason with a hint of curiosity "I understand all the bitterness of losing the mantle and the place in the family, I really understand Hood, but didn't you feel relief?"
Jason considers in silence for a long time, Tim realizes that probably not, Jason was dealing with a lot more along with the loss of all aspects of his life in Gotham, he had lost his life in general, so he rephrased the question.
"After you stabilized a bit, wasn't it better? Easier to breathe? Without all that weight."
"Robin should never be heavy, kid." Jason looked at him, Hood's helmet conveyed the expression of displeasure very well "It should be light, because birds must fly."
"Hm. I guess you and N. were always stronger than me then." He looked back at the place where the fight was taking place "I think D. will be the lightest of us." Tim shook his head and smiled "I hope so."
"What were you talking about before? About relief."
"Isn't it a relief not to be responsible for Batman anymore?" Tim asked bluntly, Hood just blinked "If we're not Robin, we're not subject to his shit, I mean, fuck if the patrol sucks, fuck if something puts him in a bad mood, fuck if he's angry. It's not our problem anymore. It's not our responsibility to try to make him see reason. To bring him back from his dark mind to the real world. To be the light. That's Robin's job."
Jason is silent, he stares at Tim completely surprised at how relieved the boy seems, it's like a weight is lifted off him with each sentence, it's like Tim is returning to his normal posture after being crushed for years.
"Don't you think that's a lot of responsibility for a child?"
"Oh, yeah, sure, but D. will do fine, he has plenty of people on his side to intervene if something goes off the rails." Tim shrugged and with more bitterness than he should have said the next part "Someone always intervenes for him. Besides, he has Nightwing."
"We both had him too."
"Not the way he does it, you know that." Tim laughed at Jason's speech "Well, it's not my problem. Not anymore. Dealing with B. is Robin's responsibility and the current one will have to deal with it."
"You're telling me, that the first time B screws the boy over, because he will, you and I both know, you won't jump in to solve the problem?"
Tim looks at Jason, really looks at him with a look that borders on physical pain.
"Of course I'll go." Tim says easily, "Because I want to, because Robin is a child and we have to protect children, not because I need to keep B in line. It's good to do things because you want to, not because you have to."
Jason almost asks if someone ever jumped between Batman and Tim's Robin, if someone ever interfered in their disputes, if someone looked at the boy walking next to the bat and saw a child and not the sidekick.
He knows the answer, Jason himself hasn't done it before.
Instead, he sighs and says, "Want to go blow up a gang downtown?"
Red Robin smiles at him, "Yes, please."

Adding on: Barbara finds out and what leads to them coming back to Gotham
Barbara would be the one to find them. She’d be shocked and be like “WE THOUGHT YOU DIED OR SOMETHING?!” Sibling would be like “Almost did. Was shot. Three time, Miss Gordon. But I’m here. Meet my partner (insert partner). Now if you’ll excuse us we like dealing with the no bat zone, thank you very much. (Insert hero) isn’t nearly as annoying or hurtful.”
That would set it off for Barbara. “You’re telling me you’re hiding from them? Your family?” “Yes, yes I am. Not like they’d care, for fucks sake I got shot because dad didn’t. Anyway, what brings you to (city name)?”
Like she’d be so overwhelmed that ANOTHER ONE OF THEM WERE ASSUMED DEAD AND NO THEY’RE NOT! “This is like Jason all over again.” They’d say “Nah, he actually died first. Harley Quinn found me in time to take care of me before she crawled back to Joker.” That was the real punch to the gut. “You accepted the help of **her**?!”! They’d nod and say “best two months in my life in Gotham, really. Anyway and why is that a problem?” They don’t see this as substantial since Barbara knows what’s going on in the manor. They’d say “look I’m happy here, plus I’ve gone to therapy. I’m healing and this is home to me. Now me and partner need to get going.”
Barbara would be so confused and look into them herself because yeah. I feel like the biological version of sibling would be some type of doctor, usually a surgeon and not because Thomas Wayne was one, simply because deep down they do want to save lives. They just aren’t a hero.
An adopted sibling scenerio I’d envision more of a more passionate career. They’re either in business with a passionate love for their product or my personal favorite, a dog trainer. Specifically they train service dogs.
Barbara would tell the batfam when she gets back and they’re all, except the trio as they’re post sibling’s kidnapping, surprised. They’re alive?
Bruce obviously is relieved they’re safe, but then upset they never came home. I feel like he’d find Harley in jail and speak to her, pretending he’s asking in favor of Bruce Wayne, but she’d be like “Aw that poor kid? Yeah, I remember them. I was runnin’ from some people angry at Mr. J while we were on break. I hid and there the poor sugar was, three bullet wound. The guys must have been amateurs ‘cause not one hit any vitals. Bandaged them up and told me about their home life, didn’t blame ‘em for not wanting to go home. Why? Whatcha need about that sweetheart?” She laughs and says “Sounds to me they’re doin’ just fine on their own. Lemme guess, their family worried bout em?” Batman said they thought they were dead and she laughs again, “I didn’t hear anything about that. The amount of criminals here? Yeah, if they were to know that they’d fight over who hands em over. All for money.” He then says, “So you knew they’re a Wayne?” Harley nods, “Of course, I did!”
Dick is one of the worser to hear about all this. How could they prefer HARLEY QUINN over them? Or leaving Gotham than going back home?
Dick doesn’t understand it at all and is quite upset.
Jason isn’t as upset as everyone else. Jason isn’t anywhere near as yandere or obsessed because he’s been where she’s been sorta. His was way more traumatic, but he understands not wanting to come home. He also understands making herself something that isn’t Wayne, he’s actually kinda proud she could just move on. Yes this does make the rest of the family annoyed.
Tim? EXTREMELY annoyed that this is how they find out. He looks into it and there they are with their lover. He’ll be concerned if they’re a villain kid. He’ll look through everything and feel a pang in his heart. They wanted to help people. And they have.
The worst person is DAMIEN. Damien has been HAUNTED by images of her death and Alfred’s. He needed this, more than anything. He’s the worst one. He won’t settle for her ‘being happy’. For some time the others would attempt to keep him away from doing something irrational, especially Jason because again he gets **why** they didn’t come home.
The longest time it’s how it is. Bruce doesn’t want to compromise what appears to be a happy life for them. Especially when the hero in her current city says she’s doing okay, thinking he’s trying to help ‘Bruce Wayne’ feel okay about the child who went missing. Jason holds Damien back with the help from our three post-batsibling kids. Then it happens. Joker gets involved in the city because he being the dick he is, somehow knows the Bat’s identity (like in SOME iterations of Joker) and Joker decided to target batsibling. Batman is called via league and while helping the hero, Harley does turn on Joker once she realizes exactly what he was planning to do. Does joker question it? A little because it’s out of character for her to turn on him like that.
While they’re trying to save them by dealing with Joker, their partner would have found their way up. It’s even better if this is a villain kid because they probably hijacked their parent’s stuff to do this. Just when they think they’re safe they hear a gun go off and it got the partner.
Imagine bat sibling balling their eyes out, holding their lover’s corpse, while the heroes and Harley try to apprehend Joker. Then he goes for another shot which was in line to hit Batsibling, only for Harley to take the hit. This would be the last shot Joker could get.
Now if it’s a non-villain kid, it’s because Batman pinned him down, if it is a villain kid, the parent showed up and shot the gun out of Joker’s hand with one of their weapons and started to beat the crap out of him (didn’t kill him because that’s too good for him)
Villain would have been held back by their hero finally and once they’re calm (and joker is in custody lol) they’d tell the hero to let go. They’d have a whole ‘why so you can actually kill him’ and Bat sibling through choked sobs would say “He’s their son, (hero) please.”
That’s when Batman’s attention would solely look back at them. They’re no longer a child… a grown adult and they just witnessed what Bruce could only assume was their first love get murdered in front of them, trying to save them. He felt choked. “(Hero), let them go to them.”
The villain parent would rush by their dead child’s side and cradle them close. Their own child was gone FOREVER. Sibling would try saying sorry, that if they hadn’t come to save them, but villain wouldn’t hear it.
After the body is taken away, after everything… Bruce does talk to Sibling because while clearly he made his mistakes, if there was a time to be the father he’s supposed to be, it was then. At first sibling doesn’t want to hear it but Bruce ends up hugging them and saying what he could say. That he understands they just watch someone they really care about get shot and there was nothing they could have done to stop it from happening.
Sure the situation was different from when his parents died, but the emotional trauma was the same variety.
Bruce would also take full advantage of it and suggest they come back home, telling them about three new siblings she never got to meet and holding the info about Alfred, since they just lost their partner. Them, knowing they couldn’t afford to live in the apartment without their partner and knowing this city would just torment them with the past, agreed to after they put in for a transfer and go to their partner’s funeral. Bruce stays in a luxury hotel in the city, texting Tim who’d handle this the best in his mind, what was going on.
But this isn’t some tragedy you walk away from for family and magically heal over night. Nor can they really heal in the bat mansion, especially not without Alfred.
Add more about when she comes back in another reblog.
You know I’d love a batfam neglects batsis/batbro that starts not when they’re brought into the family… but show it as nightmares, flashbacks, etc. warning dead Alfred.
Have batsis/batbro move on in another hero’s city as to avoid them. Have them live happy in whatever profession of their dreams after finding themselves. Not the version behind Wayne manor, truly them. Fall in love with someone (maybe a hero kid or something. Hell secret villain kid) and every time they feel good they hear news of justice league, of bat man. Some nightmares… flashbacks…
Have each unfold the story slowly until you get to the climax, what TRULY happened. They didn’t come to this city under the best circumstances no. The reality was they were kidnapped for a hostage situation and Bruce never paid, forgot them and thought it was a fake. A scam. They survived by mere luck. They shot them and left them to rot, but much to their surprise Harley Quinn found them and helped them—it was one of her ‘redemption’ periods before going back to the Joker but she still saved them. A villain saved their life when their own family wouldn’t. That’s when they left, when she went back. They had no reason to stay and built a life away from them all. Have them confess to their lover about what happened….
Then switch to the bat family currently.
Cassandra, Steph, and Duke never knew them. They look at the few portraits of them in the manor and wonder what they were like, they don’t have the full story. The others had other varying reactions when they’re brought up. They had so many questions but since Alfred’s death, there was no one willing to tell them.
Tim still kept an eye through his skills and connections hoping to find them. He had figured out first after he noticed their lack of presence about the call Bruce had awhile back that he had a hostage situation. Bruce had been second to hear the conclusion that Tim had, that it was no scam because they had batsis/batbro. He knew they were likely dead but he couldn’t rest until a body is found… or they come back.
Damian gets quickly irritated, but he has nightmares at night that he’d never admit to or tell anyone about. He was younger, but they weren’t strong. Normally that would make him disregard them or just insult them when mentioned… but he can’t. Not anymore. At first, he’d just remember how he treated them, not these horrific nightmares, but then Alfred died. The nightmares came, repeating how Alfred died… then images of all the things that could have happened to batsis/batbro. In some, he saw a demon-like version of himself killing them… it shouldn’t bother him… but it does.
With Dick, he would wander close to their room when he was in the manor. He’d go in and look at their school achievements and the photos they had with coaches and instructors… with Alfred. He didn’t get nightmares, he barely slept since they told him what probably happened. So, so many unkept promises he’d probably never get to make up for. One picture had disappeared from the room, he never knew who had it.
Jason felt pissed every time he remembers anything about them. He avoided the manor more than ever. He blamed Bruce, but he knew deep down they all had a contribution. He was horrible to them in life and he fully believes they’re dead. He doesn’t see how they wouldn’t have come home if they were.
Then there’s poor Bruce. He lives in denial. That they’re somehow still alive. That missing picture? He took it out the frame and kept it with him. It was one of their birthdays, they had baked their own cake with Alfred and Alfred took a picture of the two of them after. He remembers he never made it home to wish them happy birthday. He made so many mistakes, let his vigilante work consume him so he forgot he had more in his life besides it. And it’s likely he lost that for good.
All means they’re obsessed about finding the truth, finding them. But when will they realize they aren’t in their city?

Dick's commitment issues (?)
Jason: You have the worst commitment issues I’ve ever seen.
Dick: Excuse me?! I don’t have commitment issues... I commit to everything. Jobs? Had like six. Identities? I’m legally at least four different people. Trauma responses? Baby bro, I’ve been loyal to mine since I was eight.
Jason: …That is deeply unsettling.
Tim: *muttering* At this point even the Joker has a stabler identity.

Not that I don’t love when Bruce’s kids outperform him and give him heart attacks, but I think it’s funnier when the kids think they are better fighters/spies/infiltrators/etc. then him but he’s just so proud so he lets them think that they are.
I think that Babs would be a really good hacker, the best in the family, but Tim, who thinks that he is the next best(and is still scarily good) has no idea that Bruce only let him think that he broke his record of hacking into secret organizations.
Dick is amazing at acrobatics, and centers his fighting style around it much more. He even won gold in the Olympics for gymnastics! Bruce doesn’t want to tell him that he trained under several gymnasts, contortionists, even ballerinas!!! and has the acrobatic fighting style mastered, so he (within reason) let’s his kid win on most occasions, he doesn’t need to fake loosing on trapeze though(I am still giving the kids SOME things they are better at…)
Cass knows that nobody can lie to her, she can spot everyone’s tells and knows most people better then they know themselves. Bruce is, however, extremely paranoid and also has a kryptonian he works with regularly. He lies so well that he can convince himself he’s telling the truth(which is literally the point in case of advanced lie detectors), and so what if he lets some of his tells be more obvious around his baby, he’s so proud of her for picking up such small things! And while Bruce is AMAZING at reading people, he can’t beat Cass, it is however much closer matched then the others think.
Let’s be honest, Bruce is banned from the kitchen and isn’t good at cooking… or so everyone thinks. While he’s not as good as Alfred or even Jason he could whip up something Gordon Ramsey would be proud of if he actually tried to.
Damian in the best fighter with swords, this is undisputed. Bruce just hopes none of his kids find his crate of custom katanas in the attic, if they do then he’ll say they are for Damian.
Tim is an amazing investigator, so good in fact, that Bruce has trusted him on his hardest cases. Everyone assumes this is because Tim is a better detective then Bruce, but he just loves seeing how proud his kid gets when he gets a breakthrough.
Batman doesn’t kill, Red hood does, everyone in their right minds knows that’s a lie. Before Robin came along, leaders of drug operations or terrorists would disappear into the night, never to be seen again. The only people who don’t seem to know this are the Bats children themselves. Sometimes you can still hear a cut off scream in the dark before the news announces a missing person that everyone just knew was doing something horrible, criminals are more wary on nights that the Bats brood are in. And people running trafficking rings pray that it’s the Hood when a knock sounds, the bat doesn’t give those people the mercy of death.
All of the bat kids know more languages then Bruce, and they keep learning more to throw him off, for a family of detectives they really should have thought about the fact that Bruce traveled the entire world, he knows ancient languages and the words that world in other galaxies use, if he could speak Martian then he would have learned it by now, he still does know that part that he’s able to learn.
Idk I just need more of Bruce being skilled at SO many things while his kids are like “oh yeah Bruce? He’s good but I could defeat him easily” and Bruce just so proud of his babies when they do ANYTHING.
Bonus:
Tim made a plan to neutralize Superman at some point, it wasn’t as good as Bruce’s but he replaced it so fast. When he later uses it to take down mind controlled or something Supes Red Robin is watching.
Nobody notices that Batman whispers something to Superman before he goes deathly pale and acts like the plan is working so well he immediately gets defeated. As for what Batman said to him? It was basically ‘Clark(they aren’t supposed to know identities here btw) my kid made this plan and I swear to every mortal and immortal force that if you don’t take the fall right now you will regret it for the rest of your life” and Batman was usually scary but this was like, God will cower before him terrifying and it scared evil Superman so much he went along with it.
Res Robin was smiling so brightly that later Clark honestly couldn’t be mad at the Bat.
Edit: I forgot to add this but unbeknownst to EVERYONE (including Alfred somehow) Bruce can and will stay awake longer then Tim and his drinks are somehow worse in terms of caffeination. The difference is that on the fourteenth day with no sleep everyone thinks it’s only been three even though he is Vividly hallucinating. The ability to hide his lack of sleep for the first week and a half leads them to believe he’s actually the worst at staying up since on what they think is his fourth day of no sleep (it’s his seventeenth) he’s talking to an apparently very vivid hallucination of Alfred the Cat in a suit and a Tiger named Tawny(he had met the tiger earlier that week) and having a civilized conversation with them

Damian wayne head cannon, bro is either over dressed or underdressed but always in style. The Wayne's tend to just pick a stugle some times as Dick, Jason ans steph and known for being in tight/short/ skimpy fits with loads of accessories and Bruce, Tim, babs, cas and Duke tend to do a...lot because why show up if it's not to show up? They are beautiful humans and they show off. Damian is from a place where everyone dressed over accessorised.
You can not convince me that the RAs don't walk around with gold/silver/broz/metal and gems apart of every fit.and everyone dose it too just they the main blood line is extra about it something about the wight helps training and you can't go around looking homeless if your a ra. So dami comes with his own gems why thank you and gets more 'anonymously'. It's also a good way to get in his good graces or earn is help or silence(this is abused by the family on 'don't tell xxxx').
So some days you see Damian in this 50 layer kimono because he favourite anime character of the week died or in botty shorts and a crop top (Both with mannny accessories) because he just felt like it.
Mind you he is still wearing heavy jewellery so people do try to rob him. But he is Damain, his rep is of a wild but beautiful dog. He dose bite he also has security detail thanks to his mother and grandfather that only do nothing if they themselves send assassin's to harm him.
He knows everyone knows. They are his old servants and nanny's he acts like it too. Alfred likes the extra help and plays card games with them. One of the mannor floors is dedicated to Damains 'guards'.
Witch leads me to another au.
The nanny's and servants help with house work alot so alf have more time with the family and the family gets to know them as well but they know the servants don't need to awnser to them and it's only because Damain likes them it happens. They are loyal af.
One time burce asked Damain why can't he act like kids his age at the time. The only kids outside of his siblings he knew was the rich brats at school.
This gose wrong fast.
As damaian has them disguise themselves in a mall area and plan for a meeting with one of his classmates who talked bad about his mother one day to come fight.
Damaian had an outing with a 'friend' that day conveniently.
So they met at the mall the kid had like 10 guards all buff and some with guns. Damaian smirked, and like a demon who won a prize, he started cackling.
Brat" why ate you laughing your surrounded "
Somebody was recording in the background BTW. There was even a crowd. When the guards surrounded him he grinned and clapped.
His guards sand up some dropping trays and lifting guns, others lifting knives. All looking at the small crowd of 11.
D: "No you are surrounded"
People in the crowd gasp as more jumps from. The 3rd floor to the 2nd floor some hand off wires with more guns by now even some coming out of the crowd with more weponds totalling to almost 300 men and women.
D"now what was it you said about my mother?being a broke, whore?"
He lifted his hands and grined eith a glint in his eyes.
"Everyone around you is an enemy shawn. You best kneel and beg before me for forgiveness before I have them wiped you off the map."
By this time the crowd was growing and it was on the news all asking who the armed people worked for.
Then they turned red in the center from Sniper aims and it becomes national news it's on NBC and BBC how some wayne kid plans to kill a classmate with 100 men and 40 snipers for being disrespectful to his mother talking about how Bruce is letting his kids use his money.
Then a chopper appears because damain is dramatic he came that way and his family *caough * Dick *caough * made it worst.
His grandfather walks out in all his glory, and it becomes known to the world as it is now world news it has the kids' parents showing up even. That Damian is a part of the Al Gulh royal family, and they came out of hiding because of the disrespect they faced in a school. The parent where bowing a grovelling to spare them. Then talia shows up in her crown princess clothes. It makes RA act even bolder because she often refuses to wear clothes he gives her. She apologized for the mess her son and father cause on international news.
The a chopper came over from the Korean royal family asking who disrespected their family.
Damnian becomes international overnight. His mother and grandfather now have Twitter, and so do the very much hidden in the plane sight empire. While the world want to know what land is, they refuse to talk about it.
And Bruce is pissed he scolds him and then some when he reaches home. Damaian said.
"You said 'why don't I act like other kids' I acted like my classmates are you happy now?"
Bruce sinks in defeat and noe has to make up a story as to hoe he and talia met and now has to fit royal meeting into Damains schedule as the korean[ he didn't know ] side of family also wants turns with him and his siblings if they wish to come. Ras is the same and nobody questions damians linage again.
And all racist comments stop in his presents, his slate wiped clean anyone who offended him where either expelled or conveniently disappeared. Gotham acts like it's an every day thing and now news reporters and other people try to dig into his life more than the other Wayne's forming sort of a protection for them because who cares I'd Jason and Tim had a gun fight in the middle of Gotham (paint gun) all of Gotham didn't care because they too also joined into to the mess.
Damain looks actually too tired to care now because too much is on his plate and he can't get work related injuries else take a leave of absence which last time made international news again, he played off the brused lip as he lost a tooth while reading a book and it fell on his face. Had to get check out infount of t.v to confirm it by at least two nations doctors. All 3 of them did and confirmed the sooth got shook out by something falling on his face. [It was jon. Jon fell on his face].
Damian also has to walk around with food testers and his school released his gardeds once to show off and his private touters [smartest people in the world] showed thier certificates from when he was a child of him being thr smartest kid they have ever thought.
It's not the end of it, Damain now basically sits and eats at galas because who has the standing to talk to him, both good and bad because everyone is watching him and he don't have to talk to them.
(I'm just building help:^
I need to stop alright one more
Sick as fuck rn )
Damains clothes become trendy and scrutinised. Because look at this, he is either over dressed or under dressed but never worse dressed and refuses to care about gender or cultural norms. Once, we wore a whole silk gown to a beach, like the after divorce, or just married a rich man type gown with the slit and everything with heavy jewellery, garter belt and that toe chain that ties up to your calves with a parasol.
(In my cannon, he looks more like talia than Bruce)

Okay I have started randomly thinking about the Aliens Vs Predator game (the 2010 one). Specifically the xenomorph campaign, along with xeno-batfam. Y'know, just slowly rotating it.
Just thinking of a what if scenario slash crossover y'know. I mean the vibes are there with xenomorph experiments and all that y'know. Just pondering on if Bruce never ended up on Earth per se
Heck maybe the JL don't even exist yet or something idk, just rotatin ideas rn lol
Here's a playthrough with no commentary on if anyone is curious, though do be warned for blood violence and death, y'know the usual for Alien lol

Given the way BNHA genetics work, where the kids look the most similar to their mothers, Shinomori might have been Bruce's nephew
Y'know, I didn't think about that, but yeah- a lot of characters look like their moms (Midoriya, Bakugo, Uraraka, Jiro, Koda, etc)
I actually think they might've been cousins. Subscribing to the idea of [most kids take after their mothers], maybe they're cousins through their mothers?
Having OFA for 18 years and dying at 40 means Shinomori received it when he was 22. Shinomori being 22 years old seems close to how old Bruce actually could've been when he was alive himself.
Shinomori being Bruce's nephew is a cute idea though. I still think they'd be close in age, but Hikage can call Bruce "Uncle" to mess with him
Hikage: Uncle-
Bruce: Please don't make me feel old.
An adult that's a few years younger than you, calling you uncle. So like. Bruce could've been the babysitter / older cousin / uncle to weirdo Shinomori and he's just so used to babysitting that it automatically translates over to patiently dealing with Kudo and being protective over him (+ anyone in his care)
(Bruce gave OFA away before he went to go fight, so he really was protecting what was put in his care [Yoichi + Kudo] so they didn't disappear with him. Even if it was just a responsibility and basically their last organ that happened to manifest consciousnesses)
Bruce has Kudo. Shinomori has Banjo. Both are shorter, more risk-taking people that lead the way, but need someone level-headed by their side because they might charge in otherwise.
If they're related, that means Bruce probably also ages well too. And it means Bruce also might have a baby face like Shinomori-

(They look alike. They're also very so cute)

ik i can rag on bruce a bit here and there, but i sincerely believe him to be a good man trying his best to be a good parent and it's a little frustrating when people exaggerate his and his kids' reaction to things they do/argue about. it's a trend i notice in fanon/fanfiction and canon comics, and it breaks my heart a little bit that there seems to only be those two extremes these days: one big happy family where everything and everyone is forgiven forever, or everyone hates each other and argues over the littlest things and no one is ever forgiven for anything. i know it can be difficult to balance dichotomy and figure out good ways to write/show the nuances of a family like the batclan, but i just feel like people often forget that at all of their cores, each of them are good people trying to do good things in a shitty world. they want to help others, they want to help each other, they are all trying to do the right thing, and what makes them argue sometimes is that they all have different views and morals on how to go about. at the end of the day, they have the same goal but not the same plan, and, to me, that's what makes them fight/be gruff with one another. they don't necessarily hate each other or hold some weird grudge because they just don't like the person or whatever; they are complex individuals and characters that have certain mindsets that overlap but also contrast with others

Can we talk about playing as Jason in Gotham Knights and getting the ends scene? I would fucking love to talk about that and see more art and writing inspired by Bruce going through the exact same effects of the Lazarus pit as his son, and going from blind aggresion to primal protectiveness for his kid. Literally almost killing the person manipulating him, anything to protect his son, never letting the past repeat.
